he Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra started the Concerto Competition in 2000. It was named for long-time volunteer Marielle Ogletree from 2014 to 2026. In the same spirit of honoring dedicated supporters, the competition was renamed for Janeene Cousins in 2027. Dragged into the world of music by her trumpeter husband, FBSO member and board president Milt Cousins, she tirelessly supported the orchestra. She attended every concert FBSO performed from 2018 to her passing in 2026 – subscription concerts, outreach concerts, children's concerts, and everything in between. Janeene also designed, sourced, and built beautiful, elaborate raffle baskets that coincided with concert themes as a major fundraiser for the organization. FBSO is honored to dedicate the competition to Jeannie, extending the love and care she embodied to the next generation of musicians.
